Some Guys Have All the Luck

Slate.com has a great article explaining how the law of unintended consquences is giving a *retired* basketball player (Keith Van Horn) $4.3 MILLION for doing *nothing* in order to facilitate the trade of Jason Kidd from the Dallas Mavericks to the New Jersey Nets for Devin Harris due to the archane NBA trade rules. Wow. Talk about winning the lottery. They should have asked me, I would have done it for half that amount! :-)

  1. How about Shaq going to the Suns! We are now the oldest team in the NBA (Shaq, Steve Nash, Grant Hill), so we had better win a title quickly. The Western Conference is loaded with great Teams which should make this an interesting playoffs. Any votes for Cavs vs. Suns in the finals? Could Ben Wallace cover Shaq? How about Amare against Lebron?

  2. LeBron is widely considered the best player in the NBA (with the likely inside track to MVP this year). Lots of comparisons to Michael Jordan are made. He has basically single-handedly dragged the Cavs to their wins. With more help they will be force to be reckoned with. Shaq is old and no longer the player he was in his prime. In any case I always root for Phoenix teams unless they play Cleveland. Maybe one of thse years we'll have the Suns-Cavs and/or Indians-Diamonbacks and/or Browns-Cardinals finals.
